This Rocks July 8, 2008 This is the first GPS that I have ever owned or operated and I LOVE it!!! This is one of the best investments that I have ever made. It is a blast geocaching and traveling with this little guy. If there was anything that I would add to this GPS, it would be some sort of dinger to let you know when the next turn is coming, but you just have to pay close attention. GREAT BUY1
Garmin nuvi review July 7, 2008 I bought this item for my husband for Father's Day, but I use it all the time! It's great and so easy to use. I've become addicted to it, even when I know where I'm going.
garmin 750 July 7, 2008 I have used the garmin twice now and found it very helpful both times. It got me to my location very easily and quickly. The only thing I don't like is the instructions as I seem to get lost trying to navigate through the device itself.[[ASIN:B000UXDFN6 Garmin nüvi 750 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator
My First GPS July 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I researched hard & long before purchasing my very first GPS, the Garmin Nuvi 750 last week. I read a lot of reviews and debated between this, the 760 and the 660. I wanted the 750 over the 660 for the "Where Am I?" feature (which I love) and the fact the 750 was $299 at Sam's Club, the only one of these three models under $300. At first, it took a very long time to acquire signal, but then I read online that you had to turn on a new GPS, let it find the signal and then leave it on and still for at least 30 minutes. So I did that a few times and then these past few times I have turned it on, the signal was there as soon as the unit powered on. So we will see if that continues. I have a convertible and even with the top down, I can see my screen clearly. It calculates and recalculates quickly and I am contacting Garmin this week to try to get a free 2009 map update. I love everything about it, but haven't used the FM signal. I have an input jack in my car stereo, so I am anxious to get a cable and give that a try. The suction mount I put on my dash and it looks very natural and fits my New Beetle perfectly! So far - so good!
Excellent GPS but can be improved July 6, 2008 Pros: Very clear & Bright screen, Accurate maps & routing, Large (Wide) display, Easy to use right out of the box, great satelite reception even indoors near a window and better than the 200 series, fast recalculations, excellent POI database; Good value
Cons: GPS doesn't ask shorter or faster route each time (can only be set for default choice for all routes, much less useful); FM transmitter has quite a bit of static, suction cup loses suction after a few weeks
Other Thoughts: I have owned several Garmin GPS including the Street Pilot III, 2720 & 250W. This model has the best & quickest satelite reception. The new Garmins no longer prompt for a faster or shorter route on an individual route basis. Glaring ommision. At leaset the Nuvi 7xx series can recalculate to a shorter or faster route after the route started and after clicking through a few screens (the other series can not even not do that). Purchase the bean bag mount; much more convenient and practical than the suction cup.
