4 out of 5 stars Great pictures, but you better have extra batteries!!!   January 12, 2008

I bought this camera for my wife at christmas, because she wanted the Image stabilization feature on the new digital cameras. We have been overjoyed with the quality of the pictures, and all of the really neat features(if we took the time to learn how to use them all!). The only downfall to this camera is the battery life. YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT use regular AA batteries, otherwise you will spend enough money on one family event to buy 2 of these cameras! If you are thinking about purchasing this camera it is absolutely the best deal, unless you want to change the lens. However, be sure to invest in rechargable batteries!

5 out of 5 stars Son loved it   January 12, 2008

I love the powershots ( I have an older version as do all my kids)and this camera did not disappoint. Although I did not get to use it as it was a Christmas gift, my son has told me that it takes outstanding pictures! He loves the 10X stabalized zoom feature. The 8MP doesn't hurt either ;) Highly recommend

4 out of 5 stars Conon SX100IS   January 10, 2008

I got this camera for Xmas 2007. I love the simplicity of it. I am a point and shoot kind of picture taker. But it has a huge menu for those who want to have more control. I particularly like the 30X optical zoom. I take a lot of photos of grandchildren and am able to be out of the way but still get a great close-up.
My only "con" is the fact that it does not have a view finder. I like the stability of resting the camera against my cheek. All pics are composed using the digital window, though I must say this is a good size and with the face recognition feature is easy to use.

5 out of 5 stars A very solid camera   January 8, 2008

Well, I got this camera as a gift in early December, and I must say I am very pleased with its performance. It is one heck of a camera. Its a great medium range camera because a beginner in photography can use it, and it was great manual control for more advanced photographers. It takes very good pictures and is a lot of fun to use. Also, its 10X zoom is marvelous and allows you to get close and personal from far away, making it useful for concerts or other such performances.

Pros:
-Good shutter lag(when first auto focusing, then taking the photo)
-Good, bright flash
-Large, visible LCD screen.
-Excellent zoom
-Aperture, shutter speed and manual focus controls allow for excellent control over the camera for more serious photographers
-has excellent batter life and is nice and easy to hold

Cons:
-Slow flash recycle
-Only comes with a 16MB sD card.

Overall, this is an excellent camera, but buy a good set of rechargeable AA batteries, and a bigger sD card to go along with it. It is a great buy for the money and is made by a reputable and high quality company

5 out of 5 stars I Love This Camera!   January 8, 2008

After using an older model digital for three or four years, I finally decided to move up a notch. I did a lot of research online and settled on this Canon. It is wonderful! There are so many things it can do that I will never be able to remember them all, but for what I want -- a camera that will take good, sharp photos -- it is perfect. Price was good, delivery prompt, a good deal!
