4 out of 5 stars Great product, lousy software   September 15, 2008
The product is great. The interface is simple and the item is lightweight with big capacity.

The drawback is to do with the software to add music to the library: it crashes all the day. I don't know how to fix it because every time the device is connect to the computer, it crashes. So I have manually add music. It is fine except that I don't know how to add play list this way.

Another problem is with Amazon delivery. The first attempt failed and the item never arrived. Only 2nd attempt worked.

5 out of 5 stars Great player but beware the extras....   September 14, 2008

I run my MP3 players hard. After experimenting with an Sansa e250 and its extra features, I decided that I like bare-bones players better. (The e250 is great if you want extra features, I just never used them, so no point in spending the extra $$, or using the extra memory on the computer.) So when the e250 died after almost two years, based on several features I really liked about Sansa (like player life, which is was good for the e250), I decided to stick with SanDisk and try the Sansa Clip.

It's just what I wanted, great sound quality, even better size, weight (or lack of weight) and functionality than I had imagined possible (the clip works beautifully, and the controls are super-easy, even better than the e250), graphic equalizer with both presets and a custom settings option, and various playback options for replays and shuffle. Also has an FM radio with user settings for station presets, and a voice recorder, both nice features that I do use occasionally. The best part is that you can ignore all the extras in the box and get started immediately with dragging-and-dropping music files. The Quick Start manual even offers this instruction.

However, the other materials in the box could lead the buyer to think that optional materials offered must be installed to set up the player to function properly (e.g., a subscription to Rhapsody music service, with propietary software, the first month free). Not so, and if you're like me, wanting more sync control and not needing another music service subscription, you can just set that stuff aside. You do need to use WMPlayer to make playlists, although the player does have a 50-song capacity GO List. (Theoretically, you can also use Winamp, but I never had much success getting the sync to work seamlessly between Sansa and Winamp.)

I'm very pleased with the player and recommend it. Just remember, if you don't want a lot of extras, go straight for the Quick Start guide.

4 out of 5 stars Great Little mp3 Player   September 12, 2008
I have owned my Sansa Clip 2gb clip player for about one month. I am really impressed with this little player. I was skeptical when I first bought my Clip because I used to own a Sansa Express and was not impressed with that player. Sansa did not disappoint this time.

Pros: small size, removable clip, EQ options, bright screen, FM radio, voice recorder, many adjustable settings, solid feel, drag and drop management of songs on the player (eg, windows explorer in Windows), good battery life.

Cons: the only complaint I have is that the click buttons make a decently loud "click" when pressed. The loud "click" is nice because you know for sure you pressed a button, but otherwise it is kind of a nuisance.

Bottom Line: if you are in the market for an inexpensive, tiny, solid-feeling mp3 player, you will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!   September 9, 2008
What a great purchase. Tiny in size but big on sound. Very pleased with price and, of course, the free shipping. Would recommend highly.

2 out of 5 stars Great Disposable MP3 Player   September 7, 2008
Couldn't be happier with it until it no longer worked (6 months). The internal battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore, and since it's internal you can not replace it.

Trying to get another one under the warranty, but i'm getting the run around and havn't been succesful yet. Search the dead battery on the clip, there are more of us.

Great purchase if you plan on 6 months worth of useage.
