5 out of 5 stars love   October 4, 2008
I'm not a super-savvy tv guy, so I thought I'd like to save some energy even though a lot of the reviews say the picture quality suffers. It's very minimal if it does at all. I think the picture looks great on all platforms we use the tv for (wii, cable, dvds). You barely notice the tv adjusting to different levels of light, and it's not intrusive into the viewing experience at all. Overall, we love it!

4 out of 5 stars Good purchasing decision   September 30, 2008
We have had this TV (Philips 42" LCD HDTV) for a month now and like it better each day. The HD is great (our first HDTV connected to an HD box) and even the non-HD channels are much better than before.

So far our the only con with the TV is the sound. The speakers are on the back of the TV and our TV is in a cabinet space so it can sound a little echoed at times. If you have the TV backing up to a wall I bet it would sound better. Looking into getting a surround sound system for it.

5 out of 5 stars This TV is great :)   September 21, 2008
This tv is awesome. At first sight the picture was not so good, so I was worried but if you give it a little time (1day) it starts to learn about the lighting in your room and it fixes itself. I can't believe the picture on it, it is like watching 3-D stuff, especially when I watch my Blue-ray on my PS3.

I am a big gamer, so I wanted to buy a tv that could handle the games I push on it, it handled everything. You should see how good Halo and Gears of War looks on this TV...WoW!!

I was gonna buy the Samsung 120hz TV which cost about $500 more than this one, but I did my research (which I suggest you do) and a lot of companies (including cnet) said that the 120hz is just a gimmick. Cnet said that they had put a bunch of 120hz tv's with a bunch of 60hz tv's and it didn't show much of a diffrence. Based on this, I decided to pay less for my TV and go with this one. The 120hz was the only thing that I was gonna pay $500 more for the samsung, everything else was the same on the Philips and the samsung.

So, now on to the Pro's and Con's:

Pro: Great picture (after it learns, takes about 1 day tops)
Plays very well on video games
Should I even have to tell you about DVD's, I think not...Awesome.
Blue-Ray (if DVD's are awesome, then Blue-rays r out of this world)
Really easy to set up
User friendly controls
Connected to my At&t u-verse remote easily

Cons: The audio is the only con (I bought a sound bar at Target and it is easy to hook up. The sound could have been better, but all the pros. outway the sound issue, so I wouldn't worry so much about that. It does have good sound for a small room, but not for a large living area).

I do recommend this TV, it is a people friendly, 3-D watchin', out of this world adventure :)

5 out of 5 stars Best Picture for the Price   September 18, 2008
I saw the reviews on CNET and a few magazines on this. After spending days online and in-store checking out Plasmas, LCD HDTVs, I had to make a tough decision as I had never seen this one anywhere I looked. The delivery was fast, and effortless. The Amazon contractors brought it into my home, unpacked it and set it up in our high TV cabinet (aside from hooking it up). It took about a minute to setup and has been great ever since. Regular TV with DirecTV looks great, the PS3 quality is awesome, and using HDTV / BluRay is unbelievable. Viewing Blu Rays on other TVs don't seem like true HD to me, even with expensive Samsungs, Sonys, and other 1080P sets compared to my Philips Eco TV. Every time people have come over and seen the TV, they have been very impressed with the image quality and natural motion of the TV compared to their own HDTVs. The Natural Motion and other software built in, makes you feel like you're behind the scenes, filming the movie yourself. When viewing even 720p content, like an unconverted DVD showcasing a busy city street, you feel like you're walking down the street with them. It's insane! There's supposed to be 4 speakers, but I only see 2. No big deal though, the sound is pretty good regardless. Theirs little fuss to setup this TV, almost everything is automated or self adjusting to the best quality.. and it has energy / dimming features similar to an Apple computer, this TV is just sweet. I am going to buy a second one for my bedroom.

5 out of 5 stars Phillips 42PFL5603D/27 42-inch 1080 LCD HDTV   September 18, 2008
Very fast delivery.Delivery men took down the old T.V. and placed it on a cart, that I made available for them. They hooked up the new High Def. television. It worked fine. I then made some additional adjustments to my Comcast High def. box and then the new T.V. It has worked very well and was a very good price for such a quality product. My wife and I have in our bedroom. We are very happy with it and it's fine picture and sound quality. Thanks again, Walt Dolgireff Santa Rosa, Ca.
