1 out of 5 stars Only good for one GPS unit   September 30, 2008

I have not noticed any difference with the new maps. What really bothered me is that I have two GPS units in my vehicles and the update only works for one unit. Garmin could easily allow two units to be updated, but I guess they want to discourage owning more than one. I am done with Garmin. I will buy something cheaper next time.

2 out of 5 stars Many local errors still not fixed for SC!   September 27, 2008
I am very disappointed that City Navigator 2009 still contains errors that were present (and I reported!) in City Navigator 2008. If you live in the upstate of South Carolina don't waste your money. For example, a Local Rt 188 is still labeled as Rt 60 (which it has not been for about 30 years). Worse, streets in our neighborhood, which is on a peninsula on a lake, are shown on the wrong peninsula--Garmin tries to route you over open water across non-existing streets. The only thing in our area that I find corrected is the entrance to Greenville, SC (GSP) airport. It was missing in 2008 and is present in 2009.
I, again, have reported all these errors via email. In return I received an email of excuse and apology offering to sell me the "next" version of City Navigator for $35. Maybe not.

4 out of 5 stars Garmin 2009 Map source   September 23, 2008
So far I have no trouble with program. The same mistakes (road names, etc) are still there for the area I live in GA. I have not been out of state yet, so I can not say anthing about that. It still tries to take me down 2 roads that have been closed for more than 2 Years. Still beats my sons TOmtom.

Not worth the money because there is no much diffence from the 2008 map. I was also dissappointed because I had submitted an interception where the navigator asks me to make a right turn into private property which has been blocked by Public Works. I had provided this information about nine months before the release of the update and this correction never made it to the final publication. I provided GPS coordinates to make sure that they could properly identify the location.

Basically it takes too long for new developments to be added to the maping system. My area is already available in Google Earth and it was visible two years ago. We are still not in the Garmin map.

3 out of 5 stars Garmin 09 Update CD   September 21, 2008
I don't really like spending the money so often, but the database seems to be the main weakness in my Nuvi. Even with the new database, a customer address for my next business trip is unknown (street is not in the database).
