4 out of 5 stars Great but not "Perfect"   July 5, 2008
i bought a couple of differnt types to experiment, and this 1 is the loudest most ear piercing 1 of the bunch...i hang it on my sliding glass door arm brace, and there is NO way someone is getting in without making alot of racket...the only thing that keep its from being perfect is that the knob hook is a hard plastic, and you can't use it with door knob braces, you have to use an alrm that hangs with a chain or soft cord

5 out of 5 stars If They're up to No Good This Thing Will Stop Them!   July 5, 2008
I got this because my former supervisor at my old job just cant get enough & she tries to come & pick/bump our locks. After moving 900 miles across the country, 3 months after we moved into our apartment we started noticing our deadbolt unlocked. We wanted to see if we were simply forgetting to lock it or was someone up to something. Sure enough at 4 am the day after we installed this it started going off. I estimate the sound to be at least 120 decibels; in the next room! It was soo loud we had to cover the speaker with some tape to keep from waking up all 12 units in our building! So far the lock picker has stayed away recently. Great for seniors who may be hard of hearing!

1 out of 5 stars Cheaply made, sometimes works   July 3, 2008
I had to throw this away after trying it. It looks good in the photo but it is flimsy and unreliable. Sometimes it would work when moved; other times you could slam the door and even shake the alarm and it would still be silent. So if it can't be counted on to work every time someone opens the door, it can't be counted on at all, right? Don't waste your money on this one.

2 out of 5 stars Can't disarm without LOUD EAR-PERCING CHILD AWAKENING noise   June 11, 2008
It works, but it is sensitive. Half the time you can't turn it off without waking up the neighborhood. I tried to cautiously hold down the unit when turning it off. It is possible to quietly disarm, but it is hard. Imagine one of those movies where the guy is trying to disarm a bomb without blowing himself up and everyone around him. THAT is the kind of sensitivity it takes to turn the thing off. Purchase only if you have patience, don't have kids, and you are halfway deaf.

4 out of 5 stars effective   May 19, 2008

works well for our condo...the only thing would be nice is a way to shut off the unit without setting it off...like a remote. it is nice and loud for a little unit.
