4 out of 5 stars Great little machine   July 25, 2008
I have had my eee 4g surf for over a month and I like it very much. It connects to the internet superfast and i can take it anywhere. The keyboard is cramped, yes, but you get used to it. Its a mini laptop for basic tasks such as e-mail, messenger and surfing the internet.

4 out of 5 stars Works for Mac Users   July 24, 2008
I am a Mac user and consider myself technically challenged. I bought the 4G Surf model to use mostly for a portable writing device and for emails. I wanted something with a keyboard that was bigger than any
PDA on the market. (I hate thumb texting.) I also wanted something that would easily fit in my daily-use tote bag. I hesitated ordering this device, because I wasn't sure if I could easily transfer Word documents between my Mac world and this little device (Open Office word processing). It works flawlessly. I save a doc to my jump drive and plug it into my Mac, click to open and No problems. I can edit a doc on my Mac, and later open it on my Asus, and again, no problems.

I agree with other reviewers that it really starts up fast, and is super easy to use, even for the technically challenged. The ONLY reason I didnt give it 5 stars, is that Im sure I dont even know how to make the most of all its features. So this is really more about my ignorance than about any fault with the PC. I LOVE this little PC and wish I hadnt waited so long to purchase it.

5 out of 5 stars Asus   July 17, 2008
We love our Asus, and carry it with us most of the time. It sits on the kitchen counter ready to go whenever I need it. Great to have.

5 out of 5 stars Asus Eee PC   July 13, 2008
This item is great for someone who wants to access email while on the road, surf the internet and work on some files. It is very light weight. If your not familar with Linux then there is a learning curve. That for me was the only down side. Battery life is approx. 2 hrs on a full charge. Boots quickly and screen quality is great.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Product...with one minor drawback   July 7, 2008
I bought this product for my wife (she is in sales) and she loves it. The only drawback I can find deals with my complete ignorance of the operating system (Linux). The system runs great...but I have no idea how to update it or even link it to my home network (windows). Each time I try to read up on it...I come away more confused.

Don't get me wrong..the spreadsheet, and word processing is extrememly similar to Excel and Word. Easily saved and sent wirelessly through email to our home computer. The thing works seamlessly...but as soon as I try to deviate from those simple task I run head first into not being familiar with Linux at all.

This is really a criticism that deals with my lack of knowledge...but if I had realized how hard it would be to run (or not be able to run) and executable file...I would have opted to have it pre-loaded with windows XP.

For now...she will keep using it (and loving it) and I will have to hope I can find time to figure out the operating system.
