compact and easy to use September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had the Garmin now for almost 2 months. It's small enough to fit in my pocket or purse, yet big enough for viewing. I velcroed it to my steering column, so I can remove it and have it right by my speedometer for a quick view, if necessary, without blocking it. Speaks the street names and shows better routes to drive if need to change. Recalculates quickly. The only drawback is that it may take a while for it to acquire a satellite signal when initially turned on...as much as a few minutes a couple of times. That's a bit frustrating when you need to get going. Otherwise, it was a great buy for the price.
Garmin Nuvi 350, Top Notch September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased my first GPS, the Garmin Nuvi 350, after quite extensive research and found it to be all I expected at an affordable price. Anyone purchasing this unit would do well to download the user manual as the quick start guide does not do the unit justice. It also, does not make it clear that you can go to the website and download a current map at no charge. (Once, I believe) Don't be afraid to give this unit a try.
Assemble is too clumsy September 7, 2008 The assembly is too clumsy to handle(too many pieces). Beats the purpose of having a flat/thin display. Bulkier versions like c330 or 550 are much better. Slow in acquiring satellites and recalculations but generally decent value for money
Gets you there, but not always directly September 7, 2008 The Garmin nuvi 350 provides step-by-step directions, telling you when to turn and what street you are turning onto. It will get you there, but sometimes it doesn't take you the most direct route. But if you know the quickest way to start out, it will adjust. Also, the maps are not always correct. In one case, it had me make a couple of turns which it thought would keep me on the road, but it led me to the former location of the road which dies out, and I had to find my way back myself. The maps are frequently updated, but need better quality control. The estimated arrival time is handy, but once it seemed obviously way off, and I had to turn the Garmin off and restart it to get it to calculate correctly. So it generally works well, but it does have a few bugs.
